NNeng= Brian Moran, Benton-C Bainbridge, Nancy Meli Walker

At NNeng's first ETC residency, we wanted to feed our usual props + cams work through Experimental Television Center's unique image proc system. We would jam with the system until we became familiar with the parameters and content with the results.

For "XONN," Nancy pulled out her microscope cam and I grabbed some rubber bands while Brian wove the signals in and out with the Jones Colorizer. We did multiple takes of most of these pieces, trying for more concision as we got familiar with the parameters. Still, more shortening was needed; "WIFF3" is an hour of audiovisual jamming compressed into a minute in 2007. "Lapse" is an experiment with oscillators, leaves and pizza props, released without edits. The oscillators drive the sound and unique 'switching' that divides the screen in patterns. Hank Rudolph documented NNeng's jams; his camera work was scrubbed as source material for our 2000 NNeng demo.

For "Hand of Man" NNeng did two separate passes to record Brian's dance and Nancy's prop work. I did the live mixing.
